Stanley Umude helps Spurs survive Legends' furious fourth-quarter rally

Stanley Umude had 21 points and six rebounds to help the Austin Spurs, who built an 18-point second-half lead, survive a furious fourth-quarter rally from the visiting Texas Legends for a 122-119 victory Thursday.

Elfrid Payton finished with 16 points and 10 assists, and Jayden Nunn added 17 points as both gave the Spurs (19-10) a boost off the bench. Harrison Ingram finished with 15 points and seven rebounds.

Dalano Banton poured in a game-high 32 points for the Legends (8-21). Jeremiah Robinson-Earl had 15 points and 15 rebounds, and Matt Cross added 14 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. John Poulakidas chipped in 18 points, including five 3-pointers.

The Spurs appeared to be in control after taking a 96-84 lead into the fourth quarter and later extending it to 18 points. However, the Legends outscored Austin 35-26 in the final period and cut the deficit to just two points in the final minute. With under 10 seconds remaining, Ingram missed a free throw but grabbed his own rebound and scored on a putback to extend Austin's lead to five, providing the necessary cushion to secure the win.
