Magic erupt for 47 in fourth quarter to rally past Nets
The Osceola Magic used a 47-point fourth quarter to storm back and defeat the Long Island Nets 129-109 on Tuesday night in Kissimmee, Florida.
Trailing by 10 to start the final period, the Magic mounted a furious comeback led by Javonte Smart, who scored 18 of his 25 points in the fourth. Phillip Wheeler added 24 points, while Lester Quinones led all scorers with 28 points, hitting several clutch 3-pointers down the stretch. Colin Castleton was a force inside for Osceola (22-9), posting a double-double with 21 points and 17 rebounds. Alex Morales contributed 17 points, and Reece Beekman had 10 assists.
Long Island (18-13) was led by Dre Davis with 20 points and Alex Schumacher with 18. Javon Freeman-Liberty made an impressive debut for the Nets, scoring 17 points after being claimed from the player pool. David Muoka added 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Nets controlled the middle portion of the game, taking a 92-82 lead into the final quarter. However, Osceola's offense came alive, starting the period with a barrage of scoring. A 3-pointer by Quinones gave the Magic a 100-99 lead with 8:41 remaining, their first lead since the second quarter. The Magic never looked back, as Smart and Quinones continued to connect from long range, including back-to-back 3-pointers that extended the lead to 122-103 with under three minutes to play, sealing the victory.
