Blue Coats end losing streak with dominant win over Charge
The Delaware Blue Coats unleashed an offensive attack with five players scoring 20 points or more to defeat the host Cleveland Charge 141-124 on Wednesday at the Public Auditorium to end a six-game skid.
Kennedy Chandler led the way for the Blue Coats (15-16) with 28 points and eight assists. Teddy Allen was a force off the bench, contributing 26 points and eight rebounds. Saint Thomas tallied 22 points and eight rebounds, Malcolm Hill added 21 points and DeAndre Williams nearly posted a triple-double with 20 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Drew Cisse grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds.
For the Charge (22-10), reserve Sy Chatman and Miller Kopp scored 23 points apiece. Chatman added four rebounds and four assists. Sean McNeil had 21 points, hitting five 3-pointers, while Darius Brown finished with a double-double of 16 points and 14 assists. Warith Alatishe chipped in 10 points, six rebounds and three blocks.
Delaware took control from the outset, building a 37-20 lead after the first quarter and extending it to 76-52 by halftime. The Blue Coats' advantage swelled to as many as 31 points in the third quarter. Delaware outrebounded Cleveland 57-31, including a staggering 21-8 advantage on the offensive glass.
The Charge cut the deficit to 11 points in the fourth quarter but got no closer.
