RayJ Dennis scores 27 as Skyhawks hold off Knicks

RayJ Dennis scored 27 points and the College Park Skyhawks held off a series of rallies from the Westchester Knicks to secure a 128-121 victory at Westchester County Center in White Plains, New York, on Thursday night.

College Park (11-20) had all five starters score in double figures. Kobe Johnson recorded 26 points and 11 rebounds, hitting six 3-pointers. Keshon Gilbert finished with 22 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds. Asa Newell contributed 18 points, seven rebounds and three blocks, while Basheer Jihad added 15 points.

Westchester (11-21) was led by Pacome Dadiet, who scored a game-high 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Kevin McCullar Jr., who finished with 28 points and 11 assists. Isaiah Roby added 15 points and Dillon Jones chipped in with 13.

The Skyhawks seized control in the first quarter and never trailed again, building a lead that grew to as many as 21 points. Westchester refused to go away, however, mounting a 14-0 run to close the third quarter and cut the deficit to seven. The Knicks pulled within three points, 123-120, on a 3-pointer by Dadiet with 1:27 remaining in the game.

However, Dennis answered with a driving layup on the ensuing possession to extend the lead to five. The Knicks were unable to score on their next two possessions, and College Park sealed the win.
