Taylor's 27 points off bench lead Capitanes past Suns

Wade Taylor IV scored a game-high 27 points off the bench to lead the Mexico City Capitanes to a 112-99 victory over the Valley Suns on Tuesday at Mullett Arena in Tempe, Arizona.

The Capitanes (24-10) had significant contributions from their reserves to secure the road win, including 16 points from LJ Figueroa. James Bouknight had 15 points, Reynan dos Santos scored 13, and Ahmad Caver contributed 12 points and a team-high six assists. Andersson Garcia pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.

Jaden Shackelford led the Suns (10-25) with 24 points and six rebounds. Marcus Burk provided a spark with 21 points on 5-for-8 shooting from 3-point range, while CJ Huntley had 20 points, eight rebounds and three blocks. Zhuric Phelps had a game-high eight assists.

The Suns built an early lead, going up by as many as 10 points in the first half, but Mexico City closed the gap to take a 47-46 lead into halftime. The Capitanes took control in the third quarter, outscoring the Suns 36-30, and extended their advantage to as many as 16 points in the fourth quarter to put the game away.

Despite the loss, it was a milestone night for Shackelford, who surpassed 3,000 career points in the G League during the contest. Burk's 21 points also marked a new season high for the guard.
