Davis leads Lakers' 75-point bench effort to top Herd 131-119

The South Bay Lakers, powered by a dominant bench performance, defeated the Wisconsin Herd 131-119 on Sunday at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. South Bay overcame a six-point halftime deficit by outscoring Wisconsin 75-57 in the second half to remain undefeated in showcase play.

Guard RJ Davis was the catalyst for the South Bay comeback, coming off the bench to score a team-high 25 points on 9-for-15 shooting. Davis also set a season high with nine assists and added four rebounds and two steals. The Lakers' reserves were the story of the game, contributing a total of 75 points. Kobe Bufkin scored 23 points, leading the starters, and had four assists. Reserve Arthur Kaluma provided a spark, scoring 16 points and hitting four of his six 3-point attempts in just 17 minutes. Starter Bronny James had 15 points and five assists, while Drew Timme posted a versatile line of 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.

Cormac Ryan and Kaden Anderson paced the Wisconsin Herd with 22 points apiece. Ryan was a force defensively, recording a game-high six steals to go along with six assists. Anderson shot an efficient 7-for-10 from the field and grabbed seven rebounds. Veteran guard Victor Oladipo finished with 19 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals in 36 minutes of action. John Butler Jr. contributed 17 points and eight rebounds, shooting 4-for-6 from beyond the arc. Kira Lewis Jr. added 17 points and three assists off the bench for Wisconsin.

Wisconsin controlled the second quarter, outscoring South Bay 37-26 to take a 62-56 lead into the locker room. However, the Lakers' depth proved to be the difference in the second half. South Bay used a 35-point third quarter to erase the deficit and then pulled away with a 40-point fourth quarter to seal the victory. The Lakers' bench outscored the Herd's reserves 75-37.
