Beekman's performance helps Magic advance to East finals

Reece Beekman scored 26 points to lead the Osceola Magic to a 123-116 victory over the visiting Motor City Cruise in an Eastern Conference semifinal Friday at Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, Florida.

The win sends the top-seeded Magic to the Eastern Conference finals for the second consecutive season. They will meet the No. 2-seeded Greensboro Swarm on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET in Kissimmee.

Colin Castleton posted 22 points and six assists, while Javonte Smart provided a crucial spark off the bench with 17 points, including three 3-pointers, for the Magic (26-10). Lester Quinones added 17 points and six rebounds, and Alex Morales nearly had 11 points and nine boards.

The Cruise (22-14) were led by Chaz Lanier, who poured in 27 points on 6-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc. Wendell Moore Jr. also had a strong performance with 26 points. Tolu Smith recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Isaac Jones chipped in 18 points.

The game featured 20 lead changes, with neither team building an advantage larger than eight points. After entering the fourth quarter tied at 92, the Magic created separation. A 3-pointer by Smart with 2:18 remaining gave Osceola a 114-108 lead.

Less than two minutes later, a four-point play by Lanier with 29.4 seconds left cut the deficit to 119-116. However, Castleton and Smart converted key free throws to seal the victory and end Motor City's season.
