Ronsiek scores 26, leads No. 22 Creighton women over Butler 75-65

INDIANAPOLIS -- — Emma Ronsiek scored 26 points and No. 22 Creighton pulled away in the second half to beat Butler 75-65 on Sunday.

Ronsiek sank 10 of 15 shots for the Bluejays (18-3, 9-2 Big East Conference), who upped their win streak to eight by completing a season sweep of the Bulldogs (9-13, 1-10). She was 2 for 4 from 3-point range, made all four of her free throws and added nine rebounds.

Lauren Jensen had 19 points and five assists for Creighton. Morgan Maly pitched in with 10 points, six rebounds and four assists. Mallory Brake had 12 rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block to go with five points.

Sydney Jaynes led Butler with 15 points off the bench. Riley Makalusky had 11 points. Rachel Kent, Caroline Strande and reserve Karsyn Norman all scored 10.

Jensen and Ronsiek both scored six and Creighton led 17-16 after one quarter.

Butler shot 56.3% in the second quarter and seven different players scored as the Bulldogs took a 37-33 lead into halftime. Jaynes had 10 points at the break for Butler.

Butler's Strande had the first basket of the third quarter, but Ronsiek had a three-point play and Molly Mogensen hit a 3-pointer in a 12-0 run as Creighton took a 45-39 lead with 6:31 left and never trailed again.

The Bluejays have won seven straight games in a series they lead 16-8. Creighton beat the Bulldogs 89-53 in early January.

Creighton has its best record after 21 games since the 1991-92 squad that finished 28-4 and lost in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Creighton stays on the road to play Xavier on Tuesday. Butler will host St. John's on Friday.
