Calvert's 5 TD passes lead Liberty past Morehead State 58-17

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Stephen Calvert threw a career-high five touchdown passes in the first half as Liberty routed Morehead State, 58-17 in its home opener Saturday and go 2-0 to start the season in the process.

Calvert fired scoring strikes from 25 yards and 42 yards in the first five minutes of the game and staked the Flames to a 24-0 lead after one quarter. The sophomore finished 13 of 21 for 281 yards.

Andrew Foster kicked a 53-yard field goal to start the second quarter and get the Eagles on the board. Jake Sutherland pulled in an 11-yard pass from Lawson Page with 1:43 left in the second quarter to cut the Liberty lead to 38-10. Calvert fired 45-yards to B.J. Farrow with 24 seconds left in the half to make it 45-10 at intermission.

Page finished 18 of 31 for 187 yards to lead Morehead State (1-1).
