HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Cortez Sisco Jr. intercepted a Jack Abraham pass and returned it 46 yards with 22 seconds left in the game, preserving Louisiana Monroe's 21-20 victory Saturday night.

Caleb Evans had 165 yards passing and threw for two touchdowns as Louisiana-Monroe (2-0) held on to edge Southern Mississippi. Marcus Green caught both scores.

Abraham threw for 378 yards and two touchdowns for the Golden Eagles (1-1) and had driven to midfield inside the final two minutes when Sisco jumped in front of the intended receiver for the pick.

Evans hit Green for a 47-yard touchdown to put UL-Monroe up 14-7 late in the first quarter. Southern Miss replied with a field goal and a touchdown and the Warhawks trailed 17-14 at halftime.

Evans brought the Warhawks back early in the third with his second scoring toss to Green for a 21-17 edge. The Golden Eagles' Parker Shaunfield kicked a 47-yard field goal late in the quarter to cut it to 21-20 and neither team scored after that.
