DENVER -- Kansas City Chiefs cornerback William Bartee had to be carted off the field with a sprained neck Sunday night against the Denver Broncos.

Bartee was injured late in the first quarter when the side of his head hit Denver's Rod Smith on the hip during a punt. Bartee came at Smith from an awkward angle and his head snapped sideways as Smith ran by.

Bartee lay on the field for about 10 minutes while Kansas City's trainers stabilized his neck, then was strapped to a stretcher and taken off on a cart.
