Bastia 2-0 Metz
Bastia extended their unbeaten run to 12 games in all competitions with a 2-0 victory over 10-man Metz at Stade Armand Cesari on Saturday night.Ghislain Printant's side ended a run of three Ligue 1 draws thanks to goals in each half from Francois Kamano and Ryad Boudebouz after Guido Milan had seen red for their opponents. The three points moved the hosts up a spot into 15th while Albert Cartier's strugglers have now not won in their last 12 league outings and sit worryingly in bottom spot and four points from safety. The hosts had the better of the opening exchanges and almost took the lead after 15 minutes with a nice team effort.Boudebouz crossed the ball in to Guillaume Gillet, who attempted an overhead kick but missed as the ball fell to Gael Danic and the Bastia newcomer set up Giovanni Sio who sent his resulting header inches wide. Two minutes later the home side came close again but were thwarted by Metz goalkeeper Johann Carrasso after Sio had found Kamano in the penalty box.Bastia lost Danic to injury midway through the first half and Floyd Ayite took his place in midfield. The hosts continued to search for the opener and Boudebouz set up Sio just before the half-hour mark but the Basle loanee's effort was blocked by Carrasso. After 36 minutes Bastia were denied two great chances in quick succession. The first came from Boudebouz's free-kick just outside the 18-yard box which found Sebastien Squillaci, who struck the post, with the rebound falling to Sio for another close-range shot which Gaetan Bussmann cleared off the line.Five minutes after the break the visitors lost Argentinian defender Milan to his second yellow card. The disadvantage did not seem to affect Metz at first and they had their first real chance of note just after the hour mark as Guirane N'Daw picked the ball up from Sergey Krivets but fired his low effort inches wide.Five minutes later the hosts took the lead as Kamano fired the ball home from close range on the rebound after Ayite shot straight at Carrasso thanks to Boudebouz's brilliant through-ball.The Metz stopper came to his side's rescue to hold out a chance from the opening goalscorer after 70 minutes, but he could do nothing about Boudebouz's penalty with just over 10 minutes left after Sylvain Marchal brought down Ayite. The 24-year-old Algeria international made no mistake as he fired home his 17th successive spot-kick to beat Carrasso and double his side's lead and seal their win.ends
