Nantes 2-1 Nice

Nantes kept in touch with the early leaders in Ligue 1 courtesy of a 2-1 win over Nice on Saturday. The home side took the lead through Jordan Amavi's own-goal and took a two-goal lead into the interval thanks to Etey Shechter's strike just before the break.Amavi redeemed himself by pulling a goal back with 20 minutes to play, but Nantes held on for their third win of the season.Nantes took the lead in the 10th minute after the visitors failed to deal with a corner and, when Papy Mison Djilobodji got his head to the ball, it hit Mathieu Bodmer and then Amavi before going into the Nice net.It was another corner which presented Nantes with their second good chance as Jordan Veretout's set-piece found the head of Oswaldo Vizcarrondo, but goalkeeper Mouez Hassen made a superb save with his feet and cleared the ball off the line.Veretout then set Serge Gakpe free on the half-hour, but the Togolese striker could only drag his shot wide.Nantes had been dominant throughout the first half and their second goal eventually came two minutes before the break.Shechter robbed Romain Genevois of possession and bore down on goal before dispatching a firm finish past Hassen to double the lead.Shechter found Johan Audel early in the second half, but his shot was saved and the duo combined again shortly after, with Hassen this time denying the former a second goal.Nice had barely featured as an attacking threat but nearly had a goal back just after the hour as Eric Bautheac's cross found Valentin Eysseric who brought a smart save from Maxime Dupe.Georges-Kevin N'Koudouthen soon volleyed over the bar for Nantes, but it was the visitors who would get the next goal from Amavi.Bautheac supplied the corner and the Amavi snuck in at the near post to reduce the deficit, but that was as good as it got for Claude Puel's men.ends
