Besiktas 1-1 Asteras Tripolis

Facundo Parra made Besiktas pay for their profligacy in front of goal as Asteras Tripolis began their first-ever Europa League campaign with a 1-1 draw at the Ataturk Olimpiyat Stadium. Gokhan Tore's first goal of the season looked like it would be enough for the Super Lig side, who dominated throughout, but substitute Parra volleyed home two minutes from time to snatch an unlikely point. The result leaves Group C tantalisingly poised after Tottenham could only manage a goalless draw at Partizan Belgrade and it is Spurs who are next up for Slaven Bilic's outfit.Bilic's side, who are in the Europa League after Arsenal edged them 1-0 on aggregate in their Champions League play-off, took control almost immediately and Oguzhan Ozyakup came within a whisker of making the early pressure count when he curled a spectacular free-kick on to the bar from 25 yards in the seventh minute.Tore, Olcay Sahan and Veli Kavlak also fired shots towards Tomas Kosicky's goal as Greek side Asteras, making their debut in the Europa League group stages, struggled to contain their hosts.Asteras finally showed some signs of life with Giorgos Zisopoulos firing wide from outside the box just before the half-hour mark, but soon after that Besiktas got the breakthrough they deserved.Tore completed an all-too-easy one-two with Ozyakup and then drove at the heart of the visitors' backline, which was almost paralysed by the pace and power of the 22-year-old winger, who spent two years at Chelsea's academy from 2009-11.Asteras coach Staikos Vergetis will be frustrated by the way they backed off and invited Tore to pull the trigger - which he duly did, rifling a low drive from 20 yards that left Kosicky well beaten as it bounced home off the inside of his far post. The hosts, who had former Chelsea striker Demba Ba on the bench, picked up where they left off after the break, with Olcay missing a great chance to double their lead when he failed to find the target from inside the area.Asteras, who squeezed into the group stages after beating Maccabi Tel Aviv on away goals in the play-offs, drew level in dramatic fashion when Parra showed great awareness to let the ball drop over his shoulder, 12 yards from goal, before unleashing a sweetly-struck volley into the far corner to equalise.ends
