Lyon kept a fourth clean sheet of the season but had to settle for a point with a 0-0 draw against Lille at the Stade Gerland.

Alexandre Lacazette made his return for the hosts but failed to inspire Les Gones' attack as they were made to settle for a point which left them five points adrift of leaders PSG with just five games played.

The hosts' failure to score meant they have now failed to find the back of the net four times in their opening five games and left Herve Renard's men languishing in the bottom half of the league.

Lille's best chance came their way early in the first half but Soumaro's back-post header was superbly kept out by Anthony Lopes in the Lyon goal.

The hosts' only notable effort on goal in the opening 45 minutes was Mathieu Valbuena's free-kick late in the half but the France international's effort failed to breach the Lille rearguard.

Corentin Tolisso wasted a decent opportunity for Lyon early in the second half before the hosts went closest to stealing the points with less than 10 minutes on the clock.

Firstly, former Manchester United defender Rafael saw his header from Valbuena's free-kick come back of the post before Lille keeper Vincent Enyeama pulled off a magnificent save with injury time looming to deny Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa with a point-blank header.
