Bradley Barcola strike sends PSG 4 points clear at top of Ligue 1

Bradley Barcola's first-half goal was enough for Paris Saint-Germain to move four points clear at the top of Ligue 1 with a 1-0 win at Le Havre.

Barcola headed in Lee Kang-in's 37th-minute cross as the reigning champions capitalised on Lens' 1-1 draw at Strasbourg on Friday night to stretch their advantage.

Substitute Désiré Doué saw a late penalty saved by Mory Diaw but Le Havre rarely looked like troubling the scorers as PSG dominated the game.

Dro Fernández, the January signing from Barcelona, thought he had scored his first goal for Les Parisiens, but he was denied by an offside flag four minutes before half-time, while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia struck a post in the second half.

PSG looked dangerous from the very start, with Kvaratskhelia denied by a goal-line clearance from Yanis Zouaoui when he met Lee's corner in only the second minute.

Vitinha then saw a shot blocked by the home defence before Barcola, deployed in a false nine role by Luis Enrique, was likewise denied after charging forward.

Le Havre were struggling to get out of their own half, and their only real attack of note in the first half ended when Matvei Safonov got down to intercept a dangerous cross from Simon Ebonog.

PSG were struggling to turn their dominance into clear chances, but made the breakthrough eight minutes before half-time.

Warren Zaïre-Emery switched the ball out to Lee on the right, and he cut inside to send in a left-footed cross which Barcola met with a downward header to beat Diaw.

Lee should have doubled the lead two minutes later when PSG broke away from a Le Havre corner, but after being sent through one-on-one by Barcola, the South Korean sent his shot wide.

Fernandez then thought he had his first goal for the club when he turned in Achraf Hakimi's cross, but both Hakimi and Kvaratskhelia were offside in the build-up.

PSG continued to push for a second after the break, but Kvaratskhelia saw his effort come back off the post after Zaire-Emery cut out a poor clearance from Diaw five minutes into the second half.

Soon after Le Havre launched a rare attack forward as Issa Soumaré got into the box, but his powerful right-footed shot was kept out by Safonov.

The action soon returned to the other end, but Diaw kept out a Kvaratskhelia shot and then denied Nuno Mendes.

The second goal simply would not come. After Diaw made a superb save at close range to keep out Ibrahim Mbaye's 78th-minute effort, the visitors were awarded a penalty when Lucas Gourna-Douath brought down Doue on the right side of the box.

Diaw was equal to his low penalty to frustrate PSG again, but they comfortably dealt with a couple of late Le Havre attacks to take the three points.
