New York Red Bulls cruise to easy win vs. Dempsey-less Seattle Sounders

HARRISON, N.J. -- Mike Grella scored twice and the New York Red Bulls beat the Seattle Sounders 2-0 on Sunday night for their fourth straight victory.

Grella opened the scoring in the 18th minute. After Sacha Kljestan blasted a shot from the corner of the box off the far post, Grella tapped the rebound with the inside of his left foot into the net.

After Loyd Sam's pass deflected off defender Brad Evans, Grella chipped in from the top of the box in the 59th.

The Red Bulls (7-7-1) have outscored their opponents 13-0 during their winning streak and are 5-1-1 in their last seven matches. They haven't allowed a goal since the 43rd minute of a 2-0 loss to D.C. United on May 13 -- a stretch of more than 400 minutes.

Seattle (5-8-1), which had five more shots (16) than the Red Bulls, has lost four of its last five.
