Moor, Giovinco score as Toronto FC blanks New England Revolution
Toronto FC kicked off Major League Soccer's Rivalry Week with a 2-0 win against the New England Revolution at BMO Field on Friday night.
Eastern Conference-leading Toronto got on the scoreboard early when Armando Cooper's cross found Drew Moor at the back post and his lunging effort beat Cody Cropper to make it 1-0 in the 11th minute.
The Revs saw multiple chances go begging in the second half -- Kei Kamara, in particular, frustrated on several attempts.
With the result almost assured, Sebastian Giovinco added a stoppage-time goal to put the match away for good, as Toronto secured the win to pad their lead in the standings.
The goal was Giovinco's 50th since making the move to Major League Soccer.
New England's next match is away to the Philadelphia Union on July 2, while Toronto will travel to play FC Dallas on July 1.
