Columbus v CF Montréal
Gyasi Zardes stoppage-time winner keeps Crew SC perfect
Columbus Crew SC continued its perfect start to the season with a 3-2 home victory over the Montreal Impact on Saturday.
Gyasi Zardes' penalty in second-half stoppage-time put the Ohioans in front for good after second-half goals from Ignacio Piatti and Raheem Edwards had erased an early two-goal deficit in Colulmbus.
Crew SC was off and running on 12 minutes when Federico Higuaín converted from the spot after Jukka Raitala fouled Lalas Abubakar in the area.
Former LA Galaxy star Zardes doubled Columbus' lead three minutes later when he bundled home at the goal mouth after a powerful header from a corner rebounded off the crossbar and into his path.
Piatti scored in the 59th minute and Edwards followed up by finishing off a Daniel Lovitz cross five minutes from time, but Zardes beat Impact goalkeeper Evan Bush high and toward the corner just minutes later to seal Columbus' second victory from two matches this season.
