Alan Pulido helps Sporting Kansas City edge San Jose Earthquakes

Alan Pulido's third goal in two matches lifted visiting Sporting Kansas City to a 2-1 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday.

Daniel Salloi added a goal, his third of the season.

Salloi sent a crossing pass to Pulido from the right side to the left, just outside the box in the 60th minute. Pulido deked a defender and then fired it past San Jose keeper James Marcinkowski.

Pulido appeared to put Sporting up 3-1 less than three minutes later, but Gadi Kinda was ruled offside on the play.

San Jose had multiple chances in the final 30 minutes, but the Quakes could not get a shot past Sporting KC goalkeeper Tim Melia.

Salloi's goal put the game out of reach, as Pulido returned the favor from earlier. He eluded several defenders before crossing it to the left side. Salloi curled one just inside the top right corner of the goal.

Sporting KC has scored six goals in the last two matches, conceding just one.

San Jose jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the fourth minute. Javier Lopez scored from just outside the box to the top left corner of the net. The shot was set up by a corner kick where San Jose had two players in position to take the corner. Cristian Espinoza sent it to the middle of the field, where Lopez drove it past Melia.

The lead was short-lived. Pulido fed Jaylin Lindsey with a perfect feed and Lindsey scored the first goal of his MLS career in the 15th minute. Pulido was dispossessed in San Jose territory, but he quickly got it back. Lindsey was streaking up the right side and Pulido found him inside the 6-yard box.

Things calmed down the rest of the half, though each team had multiple scoring opportunities. Sporting held an 8-4 advantage in shots while San Jose held a slight edge in possession.
