New England Revolution lift Supporters Shield after loss to Miami
Blaise Matuidi scored in the 58th minute as Inter Miami CF ended its season on a high note with a 1-0 win over the host New England Revolution on Sunday in both teams' regular season finale in Foxborough, Mass.
Despite the loss, New England lifted its first-ever Supporters' Shield after the match in celebration of its record-breaking regular season. The Revs set an MLS record for points in a single season after eclipsing Los Angeles FC's previous record of 72 in 2019.

The Revolution secured a first-round bye and home-field advantage and will face the winner of the fourth- versus fifth-seed first-round matchup in the Eastern Conference semifinals of the MLS Cup Playoffs, which begin on Nov. 20.
Matuidi gathered a deflected ball in the goal area and spun around before unleashing a left-footed shot that deflected off a defender and trickled into the lower right corner past Revolution goaltender Matt Turner.
Inter Miami (12-17-5, 41 points) snapped a two-game losing streak after being eliminated with last Saturday's 3-1 loss to New York City FC. John McCarthy made three saves for Miami, which has missed the playoffs in each of its first two MLS seasons.
Turner finished with three saves for the Revolution (22-5-7, 73 points), whose 10-game unbeaten streak (7-0-3) was snapped with their first loss since Aug. 28.
In a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the Revs put three of their eight shots on target and narrowly missed taking a 1-0 lead as Carles Gil's free kick clanged off the right post on the final play of the first half.
Gustavo Bou appeared to pull the Revs level in the 72nd minute, but he was ruled offside.
New England played without leading goal scorer Adam Buksa after the forward suffered a foot injury. Buksa, who had 16 goals in 31 games, is not expected to be sidelined for the Revs' upcoming playoff run.
