Bottom club York twice came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw at Vanarama National League play-off hopefuls Dover.Defender Jamie Grimes fired in via a post to put fifth-placed Dover ahead in the sixth minute, but Jon Parkin lashed home his first Minstermen goal following Simon Lappin's corner to level before the break.Striker Parkin, on loan from Newport, rattled an upright from a tight angle early in the second period, before Ricky Miller restored the hosts' lead from the penalty spot after he was brought down by Shaun Rooney.York, who had won just one of their last 19 league matches, were not to be denied a point though and Rooney made amends for conceding the penalty by heading in Sean Newton's deep free-kick 13 minutes from time.ends

Jamie Devitt scores stunning goal as Morecambe share spoils with York

Jamie Devitt scored a stunning goal as Morecambe and York drew 1-1 on the final day of the Sky Bet League Two season at the Globe Arena.Luke Summerfield gave relegated York the lead in first half injury time before Devitt earned Morecambe a draw with his goal shortly after the break.Summerfield picked up a loose ball in midfield and drove straight at the Morecambe defence before firing a low left foot shot past Barry Roche from 20 yards out.The Shrimps should have equalised seconds later when top scorer Shaun Miller was played in on goal but hesitated, allowing Dave Winfield to produce a superb block at full stretch.Morecambe did level five minutes after the break with a special strike from Devitt.The midfielder took the ball just outside the York area and let fly with a stunning, dipping right foot drive that flew into the top corner of Michael Ingham's goal.From there both sides traded chances with Ingham saving superbly from Aaron Wildig before York missed two glorious chances in quick succession.Lee Molyneux blocked Bradley Fewster's close range shot on the line before Ken McEvoy somehow missed the target from two yards out after a neat Josh Carson cross.Morecambe ended on top with Ingham producing a flying save to tip over a Paul Mullin strike as the game ended in stalemate.

Bristol Rovers keep automatic-promotion hopes alive

Bristol Rovers boosted their automatic-promotion hopes with a thumping 4-1 win at relegated York.Billy Bodin's brace set the Pirates on their way and Jermaine Easter and Lee Mansell added further strikes, either side of Kenny McEvoy's consolation for the hosts.Fourth-placed Rovers head into their final match of the season, at home to Dagenham, one point outside the top three. Bodin went close twice before opening the scoring in the 19th minute, beating goalkeeper Scott Flinders at his near post from the edge of the penalty box after cutting inside left-back Kyle Cameron.Matty Taylor should have then scored his 29th goal of the season but missed the target with only Flinders to beat after a Dave Winfield error.Rovers continued to dominate after the break and Bodin doubled the Pirates' lead in the 71st minute.Capitalising on a Scot Bennett error, Bodin charged through on goal before rounding Flinders and finding the empty net.Substitute Easter added a third 10 minutes from time with one of his first touches, racing on to an Ellis Harrison pass before sidefooting past Flinders from 10 yards.York replied when McEvoy converted a left-wing Bradley Fewster cross one minute later, but Mansell had the final say, driving in from 20 yards after Jake Gosling's drive was blocked.

York relegated after defeat to promotion chasing Accrington

York will play Vanarama National League football next season after their relegation was confirmed with a 3-0 loss at second-placed Accrington Stanley.The Minstermen, who only returned to the league in 2012, went down with a whimper as they had just one shot on target - which came in the 87th minute.For Stanley, Reading loanee Tarique Fosu's first-half strike and a double from Josh Windass secured a vital three points with keeps them in the automatic-promotion spots, two points ahead of fourth-placed Bristol Rovers with two games to go.It was a cagey opening with the first real chance not coming until the 17th minute when Piero Mingoia's cross found Billy Kee but his header was straight at Scott Flinders.Stanley broke the deadlock in the 35th minute when Flinders couldn't keep hold of a cross from Windass and Fosu pounced on the loose ball - the winger's second in as many games.Stanley should have extended their lead eight minutes after the re-start when defender Tom Davies had a free header from a Mingoia cross but it hit the chest of Flinders and bounced out to safety.The Reds piled on the pressure and it finally told in the 69th minute as Adam Buxton's corner was only half cleared to Windass on the edge of the area and he volleyed home superbly.York's only shot on target came three minutes from time when Luke Summerfield fired at Ross Etheridge, before Windass netted his 16th goal of the season in injury time, shooting through a crowd of bodies from 10 yards.

York still fighting after seeing off Portsmouth

York held on to the slimmest of Football League survival hopes following a 3-1 home win over Portsmouth.The Minstermen are now nine points adrift of safety with a goal difference 11 inferior to third-bottom Newport.Goals from Bradley Fewster, Lewis Alessandra and Luke Summerfield put York in the driving seat early in the second half against Pompey and, even though a mistake by keeper Scott Flinders saw Gareth Evans pull a goal back, the home side never looked like surrendering the points thereafter.York took the lead on the half hour with Fewster's eighth goal since signing on loan from Middlesbrough.The former England Under-20 international headed in from a couple of yards after Scot Bennett had climbed high to meet Summerfield's right-wing corner.Alessandra added a second four minutes later, guiding a low Luke Hendrie cross from the right past Paul Jones from three yards.The Minstermen made it 3-0 after 48 minutes with Summerfield spectacularly finding Jones' top-left corner from 30 yards after an Alessandra lay-off.Portsmouth were handed a lifeline when Flinders allowed Evans' hopeful edge-of-the-box effort to squirm over the line but York held on for a first victory in 13 games.

York on the brink after defeat at Hartlepool

Ten-man York plunged to the brink of Sky Bet League Two relegation as Michael Woods' late winner earned Hartlepool a 2-1 win at Victoria Park.The midfielder headed home with 18 minutes remaining to leave the Minstermen, who had been given hope when Kyle Cameron cancelled out Nathan Thomas' opener, 11 points adrift of safety with just four games remaining.Hartlepool were gifted an opener in the 24th minute when the visitors' failure to clear a Lewis Hawkins corner left Thomas with the simple task of converting from six yards.Things went from bad to worse as defender Dave Winfield was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence.But York continued to battle and levelled on the stroke of half-time when Cameron capitalised on being unmarked to head Luke Summerfield's corner into the net.Hartlepool created the better of the openings after the interval, Scott Flinders brilliantly turning away Woods' long-range volley after Luke James had headed narrowly wide.However, the goalkeeper was unable to repeat the trick when Woods nodded Carl Magnay's cross in off the inside of the post.

Late Wycombe leveller rocks York survival bid

Substitute Matt Bloomfield earned Wycombe a late point in a 1-1 draw at relegation-threatened York.Bloomfield's 89th-minute header cancelled out Vadaine Oliver's first goal since December for the hosts.York were the better side during a first half that saw Ryan Allsop smother well at Lewis Alessandra's feet before the home striker sent Oliver through for the opening goal in the 35th minute.Bursting through the right channel, Oliver kept his cool to shoot across goal into Allsop's bottom corner from 10 yards.The on-loan Bournemouth goalkeeper also did well to keep out a firmly-struck Luke Summerfield attempt before the break.York continued to threaten in the second half, with Allsop equal to Summerfield's 30-yard free-kick.The equaliser came when Scott Flinders saved Aaron Pierre's shot to his right, only for Bloomfield to head the rebound in from 10 yards to leave York nine points from safety.

Will Boyle dismissal proves costly for York

Relegation-threatened York made it 10 games without a win as a red card for defender Will Boyle proved costly in a 1-1 draw against Leyton Orient.The Minstermen had led at half-time against the play-off chasing O's following Bradley Fewster's seventh goal of the season.Jobi McAnuff had also hit a post with a penalty but, when Boyle was sent off for his second bookable offence, Orient grabbed a 75th-minute equaliser through Lloyd James within seconds to secure a point.York forged ahead in the 18th minute when Fewster swept a superb right-wing cross from Luke Summerfield into the roof of the net from three yards.The visitors had an excellent chance to level the scores on the stroke of half-time after Boyle handled Nicky Hunt's free-kick but McAnuff drilled his spot-kick against the base of Scott Flinders' right-hand post.On-loan Huddersfield centre-back Boyle went on to receive his marching orders after 74 minutes for simulation in the Orient penalty box.James then drilled in a low 15-yard shot to earn a share of the spoils.

Plymouth return to top three with a win over struggling York

Plymouth surged back into League Two's top three with a 3-2 victory over relegation-haunted York at Home Park.Argyle got off to a perfect start when on-loan Fleetwood target man Jamille Matt scored his second goal in two games.Matt smashed home from close range on 21 minutes after striker Reuben Reid's knock down from full-back Gary Sawyer's cross from the left.Matt won a 31st-minute penalty, converted by Reid, and the Greens forged further ahead in the 42nd minute after Will Boyle powered his header from Graham Carey's corner into his own goal.City keeper Scott Flinders made a sensational double stop to deny Matt and Reid from point-blank range before Plymouth hit the goal trail.York were given a glimmer of hope when City skipper Russell Penn slammed in from 20 yards in the 52nd minute and former Plymouth midfielder Luke Summerfield scored an 86th-minute penalty, conceded by Jordon Forster, fouling Boyle.Matt came close to making it 4-2 in the 89th minute when his diving header smashed off the bar following Jake Jervis' corner.
