Rider holds off Marist 60-57, blocks a trey at the buzzer
LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. -- Anthony Durham scored 10 points with 11 rebounds for his first career double-double but he was mobbed by teammates after blocking a 3-point shot at the buzzer as Rider held on and defeated Marist 60-57 on Saturday.
Marist was gunning from behind the 3-point arc in the last 1:35, cutting the Rider lead down to 56-53, then 58-57 with 12 seconds left.
After Durham made two free throws with 10 seconds to go, Marist's David Knudsen took the ball off a screen, spun away from Durham and dribbled right. Knudsen appeared to shake Durham and take an open 3, but Durham was just able to get an outstretched hand on the ball and the shot fell well short.
Frederick Scott led the Broncs (13-7, 6-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Jordan Allen tossed in 13 points and also grabbed nine boards.
Brian Parker led Marist (4-15, 2-5) with 19 points, while Knudsen scored 18 with four 3-pointers in 15 attempts. The Red Foxes connected on just 8 of 39 attempts from beyond the arc.
