Boston University Terriers @ Holy Cross Crusaders
Hankerson, BU turn back Holy Cross 54-40
WORCESTER, Mass. -- Cedric Hankerson scored 10 points and reached a milestone to help Boston University stymie Holy Cross 54-40 on Sunday.
Hankerson's steal and dunk in the middle of the second half made him the 17th Terrier to reach 1,200 career points. He was the only player to reach double figures for BU (9-8, 5-1 Patriot League), who have won three straight.
Max Mahoney's layup as time expired in the first half but the Terriers up for good, 25-23.
The Crusaders (4-13, 1-5), who have lost seven of eight, were within two when Hankerson scored and then the Terriers began knocking down some 3-pointers to open up some breathing room.
BU went 6 of 13 from distance, four of the makes coming in the second half. Holy Cross was just 5 of 24 behind the arc and shot 33 percent overall (15 of 46).
Austin Butler had 11 points for Holy Cross, which had its worst shooting game of the season and was held to a season low in points.
