Stony Brook defense locks down New Hampshire in 62-44 win
STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- Elijah Olaniyi scored 15 points and Miles Latimer added 11 with a career-high 14 rebounds and Stony Brook won its fifth straight beating New Hampshire 62-44 on Saturday.
The Seawolves have won 14 of the last 17 against New Hampshire.
It's the second straight game Stony Brook has held an opponent to less than 50 points. The Seawolves beat Binghamton 59-46 on Wednesday night. It was the first time they'd held an opponent to under 50 points since beating Hartford 77-43 on Jan. 18, 2016.
Josh Hopkins entered the game as the leading score for the Wildcats at 12.2 points per game but the Seawolves limited him to 1-of-11 shooting for 3 points.
The Seawolves (15-3, 3-0 America East) led 26-21 at halftime and started the second half with a 7-0 run when Jeff Octhere threw down a dunk, made a layup and Akwasi Yeboah made a 3-poiinter. Stony Brook extended the lead to 58-34 with 6:10 left when Olaniyi made 1 of 2 foul shots.
David Watkins and Marque Maultsby each scored 10 points for New Hampshire (3-13, 1-2).
