James scores 16, helps Rider slip past Mount St. Mary's 61-57
LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. -- — Mervin James scored 16 and Rider scored the final six points of the game at the foul line to rally for a 61-57 victory over Mount St. Mary's on Friday night.
James added five rebounds for the Broncs (9-16, 6-8 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Tariq Ingraham totaled 12 points and eight rebounds, while DJ Dudley scored 10 points.
Jedy Cordilia finished with 14 points and seven rebounds to pace the Mountaineers (11-14, 7-7). Deshayne Montgomery had 11 points. Dakota Leffew added eight points and eight rebounds.
Dallas Hobbs sank a 3-pointer to give Mount St. Mary's a 57-55 lead with 52 seconds left. Allen Powell hit two foul shots five seconds later to tie it. Ruben Rodriguez hit 1 of 2 for the lead with 23 seconds to go. Ingraham made 1 of 2 10 seconds later and James hit a pair with 11 seconds remaining to seal it.
