Since the Astros are about to clinch the NL Central Division title with a win over the Dodgers, Cincinnati's only hope of reaching the playoffs is winning Sunday and then defeating the Mets in Monday's tiebreaker game. That would be played in Cincinnati if the game is necessary.Cincinnati suffered a 10-6 setback to Milwaukee on Saturday for
its third straight loss Pete Harnisch (15-10, 3.78 ERA) gets the critical assignment for
the Reds. He snapped a personal two-game skid on Tuesday,
holding Houston to one run and four hits over eight innings in a
4-1 win. Harnisch has allowed two runs or less in three of his
last five starts.
He has a 6-3 lifetime mark against Milwaukee, including 2-1 this
season. Cal Eldred (2-7, 7.52) makes his first start since September 7
for the Brewers. Eldred dropped his only start this year against the Reds, giving
up five earned runs and nine hits over 5 2/3 innings in a 9-1
loss on May 11.
