Leyland announced earlier this season that he would retire after just one year as the Rockies' skipper. He guided the Florida Marlins to a World Series championship in 1997 and led the Pittsburgh Pirates to three straight National League East titles from 1990-92.

He has a career record of 1067-1129 entering today.

Colorado will finish with its lowest win total in a non-strike year since posting 67 in the 1993 expansion season, which could have contributed to Bob Gebhard's decision to resign as the team's general manager.

San Francisco faded out of the wild-card chase in September despite posting its third straight winning season. The Giants got their third win in four games Saturday with a 16-7 rout of the Rockies as Armando Rios homered twice. Colorado has dropped four of its last five.

Brian Bohanon (12-12, 6.06 ERA) get the call for the Rockies after getting tagged for eight runs and eight hits over six innings in Monday's a 10-3 loss to Arizona. He has given up at least five runs over his last three starts and has not won since September 10.

Bohanon is 2-1 against the Giants this season and 3-2 lifetime.

Rookie Joe Nathan (7-4, 3.90) counters for San Francisco. He had his three-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday, allowing four runs and eight hits over 6 1/3 innings in a 9-4 loss to Los Angeles in the final game at 3Com Park.

Nathan is maing his first appearance against Colorado.
