Hayes scores 34 as Charge defeat Herd

The Cleveland Charge defeated the Wisconsin Herd 115-107 on Tuesday night at the Public Auditorium. The Charge used a dominant fourth quarter, outscoring the Herd 35-28, to pull away and secure the victory in the final game of their season series.

Killian Hayes led the offensive surge for the Cleveland Charge (3-1), finishing with a game-high 34 points and nine assists while connecting on six of his 12 3-point attempts. Center Norchad Omier was a force in the paint, recording a double-double with 20 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. Guard Darius Brown also had a strong performance, contributing 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Jaxson Robinson added 11 points off the bench, and Warith Alatishe had 7 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks. As a team, the Charge shot 46% and made 18 3-pointers.

The Wisconsin Herd (0-4) were paced by Cormac Ryan, who scored 32 points on an efficient 12-of-17 shooting. Ryan started fast, scoring 15 of his points in the first quarter alone. Stephen Thompson provided 21 points, including three 3-pointers. Former Charge player Pete Nance added 20 points and eight rebounds, and Mark Sears chipped in with 14 points and six assists in the losing effort.

The game was a back-and-forth contest for three quarters. Wisconsin held a 31-28 lead after the first period before Cleveland rallied with a 28-16 second quarter to take a 56-47 advantage into halftime. The Herd fought back in the third, cutting the deficit to 80-79 heading into the final frame. However, Cleveland's offense, which produced 23 assists on 39 made field goals, proved too much in the fourth quarter as the Charge built a lead as large as 17 points to seal the win.
