Thompson's performance helps lift Boom past Magic
Ethan Thompson came off the bench to score 31 points and grab 10 rebounds, leading the Noblesville Boom to a 129-117 victory over the host Osceola Magic on Wednesday night.
Thompson, a former Magic guard, also recorded eight assists and helped extend the Boom's league-best winning streak to seven games. They snapped Osceola's five-game winning streak.
The matchup featured two of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, with Noblesville overcoming an early 13-point deficit.
The Boom's bench played a significant factor, outscoring Osceola's reserves 72-21. Reserve Gabe McGlothan contributed 25 points, including five 3-pointers, while starter Cameron Hildreth also scored 25. Au'Diese Toney finished with 18 points and seven rebounds for Noblesville (11-6).
Javante Smart paced the Magic (13-4) with a team-high 35 points, including seven 3-pointers, and four assists. Lester Quinones had 28 points, five rebounds and three assists. Alex Morales chipped in 19 points and three steals. Center Will Baker had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Osceola started strong, building a 27-14 advantage in the first quarter. However, Noblesville rallied and took a 66-64 lead at the break. The Boom outscored the Magic 30-20 to build a 96-84 lead entering the fourth quarter. Osceola mounted a comeback in the fourth, but Noblesville answered it to seal the victory.
