Remaining strength of schedule rank for NFC East teams, according to FPI: Eagles: 5 Washington: 11 Giants: 22 Cowboys: 26 Despite that, FPI does still consider the Eagles the division favorite at 44%, both because it thinks they are the best of the four teams and because of their half-game lead in the standings.

CeeDee Lamb wasn't sure if his twisting, turning TD catch ranked No. 1 or 2 in the catches he has made in his life. He had one at Oklahoma he might have liked better, but he almost didn't make Sunday's. “Honestly, in that position it was very hard to see. The lights in the stadium made it a lot difficult. I ran my route, Andy gave me a great opportunity a great ball to make the opportunity to make the catch … You know at the end of the day you've got to win you individual battles and I did.”

Mike McCarthy called Donovan Wilson, “a stud,” after the safety forced two fumbles, recovered one, had nine tackles and had a half sack. He became the first Cowboys defender with multiple forced fumbles in a game since 2016. “I feel like it's just practice habits,” Wilson said. “Every day at practice I'm punching, swinging, trying to get whatever ball I can out. I think that just carried over to the game.”

Zack Martin knew Monday he would start at right tackle for the first time in his career, which helped him study the Minnesota defense. What didn't help was a calf injury that limited his practice work, but Martin took to the spot quite well even if he only felt, “OK.” Ezekiel Elliott was more effusive. “He could probably play any position on the O-line and be dominant,” he said. “That's rare, and a lot of those runs today were behind Zack. We know he's the strength of our offense.”

Ezekiel Elliott ran for just 47 yards when he saw Minnesota last season. He had 103 yards on 21 carries and a receiving touchdown Sunday. It was the first 100-yard game he had on a season that he has admitted has been tough but not because of any outside news. “I don't really pay attention to what other people are saying,” he said. “All I worry about is being the player I need to be for this team and we went out there and we got a dub.”

Dallas' McCarthy: Win 'needs to mean something'

Andy Dalton threw a touchdown pass to Dalton Schultz with just under 2 minutes remaining Sunday to lift the Cowboys past the Vikings and into the NFC East chase.

The Cowboys are actually in the NFC East race with their 31-28 win against Minnesota. No team in the division has more than three wins and by the time the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants play again, the Cowboys could have more wins than anybody in the division should they beat the Washington Football Team on Thanksgiving. “I can't remember the last time we won our last game,” Ezekiel Elliott said. It was Oct. 11.

The Cowboys held the lead for 7 minutes, 15 seconds before Dalvin Cook's touchdown and Dan Bailey's extra point. They had the opportunity to force a field goal try with Minnesota facing a second and 22 and a third and 10 but couldn't get a stop. Minnesota converted three third-down chances and were helped by a defensive penalty by Chidobe Awuzie.

The Cowboys are looking for their first road win under Mike McCarthy. He had a 7-6 record in Minnesota while with Green Bay, losing his last three games. “It's definitely a threshold we need to crossover,” he said. “That first road win every year is always something that seems to be a little more difficult the longer I'm in this business. It would mean that we'd have three wins but the ability to win on the road is clearly a must for us to continue on the path of where we want to get to.”

Confirming multiple reports: All-Pro right guard Zack Martin will start at right tackle at Minnesota with Connor McGovern moving in at guard. Martin will replace undrafted Terence Steele, who had started all nine games. This will be the seventh different starting offensive line combination the Cowboys have used this season. It will be the first start at right tackle of Martin's career. He played there in the second half of the Week 3 loss to Seattle.
