Broncos coach Vic Fangio on the decision earlier this season to move offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur from sidelines to coaching booth: "I didn't make it a mandate that he go up there, but there's no doubt that's the best place to call a game from ... I think it's best place for a play-caller to be for the most part.'' Also Thursday, Broncos QB Drew Lock said, in looking at his interceptions he understands he has to take care of the ball better and learn when, and when not, to be aggressive -- "It's funny half the time right as the ball leaves my hand, I'm like 'oh God, that's not going to be a good one.' It's just one those gut things right as you let it go ... every quarterback has those moments, it's just about limiting those moments ... the defense is going to beat you a play or two here and there.''

Broncos quarterback Drew Lock said Thursday he split reps in practice with Brett Rypien and Lock said he felt good throwing in drills. On playing Sunday against the Dolphins, Lock added: "I would like to be (available to play) ... Obviously I'll give my opinion and it's going to be I want to play, but in the end it's not 100 percent up to me what happens.'' Lock said he trusts the trainers and doctors when the decision is made.

In addition to his role in game-planning and coaching the secondary, Broncos defensive coordinator Ed Donatell's return from his battle with COVID-19 would also help the Broncos stay out of the 10-men, 12-men on the field issues they had in Vegas. Vic Fangio updated Donatell's status Thursday: “I talk to him every day ... He is looking in on some of the meetings virtually from his residence, he's getting much, much better every day.'' Sunday is expected to be the fourth game Donatell has missed.
