No. 13 Florida St. women hit 100 again in rout of Va. Tech
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Shakayla Thomas scored 21 points, Ama Degbeon had a double-double and No. 13 Florida State tied a school record en route to a 107-62 win over Virginia Tech on Sunday.
Degbeon had 10 points and 13 rebounds for her third career double-double and seven players scored in double figures as the Seminoles (16-2, 4-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) tied the 1990-91 team with their fifth 100-point game of the season. With the largest crowd of the season -- 4,983 -- on hand for alumni weekend, FSU earned its largest win ever over the Hokies (13-5, 2-3).
Florida State scored the first 16 points of the game en route to a 28-8 lead after one quarter. The Seminoles made their first five shots while the Hokies missed their first eight and finished 3 of 19 for the quarter.
Imani Wright made 7 of 9 shots, 3 of 4 behind the arc, in the first half, scoring all 18 of her points. Nicki Ekhomu had 16 points as seven Seminoles scored in double figures. FSU finished the game 8 of 14 behind the arc, shot 60 percent overall and had a 48-30 rebounding advantage.
Taylor Emery scored 17 points for the Hokies, who shot 31 percent (22 of 72).
