Brown leads No. 18 Duke women past Pitt 58-46 for 900th win
PITTSBURGH -- Lexie Brown scored 20 points and No. 18 Duke recovered from blowing an 18-point second half lead to defeat Pittsburgh 58-46 on Sunday, the 900th win in program history.
Brown had 10 points as the Blue Devils (17-5, 6-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) closed the game with a 15-2 run.
The Panthers ended the third quarter with a 17-6 run, doubling their score to trail 41-34. Jasmine Whitney and Kauai Bradley each had eight points. After Duke opened the fourth quarter with a basket, Yacine Diop scored seven straight points and a 3-pointer by Kyla Nelson put the Panthers on top 44-43 with 6:43 to play.
Brown made a layup and then a 3-point play before Rebecca Greenwell's 3-pointer had Duke on top 51-44. After four straight misses, Diop ended the drought but Pitt missed its final three shots.
Erin Mathias had 12 points and 10 rebounds for Duke, which is 900-391 in 43 years of basketball. Bego Faz Davalos had four blocks to move her into the NCAA Top 25 in career blocks with 363.
Diop had 19 points and 15 boards for Pitt (9-13, 1-8).
