Miami women pull away in 4th, upset No. 23 NC State 52-48
CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Keyanna Harris scored nine of her 17 points in the fourth quarter to help Miami upset No. 23 North Carolina State 52-48 on Thursday night, snapping the Wolfpacks' seven-game win streak.
Harris matched her career high on 7-of-11 shooting. Kelsey Marshall added 14 points and Emese Hof had 13 for the Hurricanes (17-7, 7-4 Atlantic Coast Conference), who have won six of their last seven games.
Erika Cassell had a career-best 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead NC State (19-6, 8-4). Kiara Leslie and Chelsea Nelson each chipped in another 11 points for the Wolfpack.
Harris scored the first seven points for Miami to start the fourth quarter as the Hurricanes built a 47-42 lead. Leslie scored six points and Cassell hit a jumper, and NC State took a 48-47 advantage. Harris' jump shot made it 49-48 with nine seconds remaining.
The Hurricanes then forced a turnover and Hof made the first of two free throws with 3.4 seconds left, but Erykah Davenport pulled in the offensive rebound on the second attempt, and Marshall added two more free throws to seal it.
An 11-4 surge, capped by Marshall's 3, tied the game at 38 heading into the fourth quarter.
