No. 23 NC State women advance to quarters, beat Tar Heels

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Aislinn Konig scored 19 points with five 3-pointers, Greensboro native Akela Maize had 12 points, nine rebounds and four blocks and No. 23 North Carolina State beat North Carolina 77-64 on Thursday to advance to the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament quarterfinals.

Kiara Leslie and Chelsea Nelson each added 13 points for N.C. State (23-7), which has won six of its last seven. Leslie picked up her fourth foul midway through the third quarter but still played 31 minutes. N.C. State has won six of the last seven meetings in the series, including three wins this season.

The fifth-seeded Wolfpack will play 18th-ranked and No. 4 seed Duke on Friday.

Paris Kea led 12th-seeded North Carolina (15-16) with four 3-pointers and 27 points. She scored 21 points on 4-of-5 shooting from distance in the first half but her team trailed 43-37. Jamie Cherry had 15 points on 3-of-15 shooting and nine rebounds.
