BOGOTA, Colombia -- Second-seeded Flavia Pennetta of Italy
beat Lourdes Dominguez Lino of Spain 7-6 (4), 6-4 Sunday to win the
$170,000 Copa Colsanitas tournament.
On match point, Pennetta hit a lob that Dominguez let pass by,
assuming it was going long. But the ball dropped inside the line,
giving Pennetta her second WTA victory.
Dominguez, who beat hometown favorite and top-seeded Fabiola
Zuluaga in the semifinals, started the match strong, breaking
Pennetta early and gaining the support of the crowd at the El
Rancho country club in northern Bogota.
But serving at 30-love and ahead 4-2, she double-faulted,
eventually losing the game and then the first set in the
tiebreaker.
