Sacramento (10-14) at Denver (14-9) 9:00 pm EST
DENVER (Ticker) - Everything is working against the Sacramento
Kings. They may have to fight against poor play, terrible
weather and an invigorated superstar all at once.
After a powerful snowstorm swept through Colorado, the Denver
Nuggets will host the struggling Kings on Friday - weather
permitting.
On Wednesday, a blizzard postponed the game between the Nuggets
and the Phoenix Suns. The Denver area received approximately
two feet of snow, making it a full-fledged blizzard. The Denver
International Airport was closed. It is the first postponement
in the NBA since a Memphis-Utah contest on January 7, 2004.
Despite being shorthanded after the fallout from Saturday's
brawl in New York, Denver won its last contest - a 117-108
victory over Washington on Monday. However, the Nuggets won't
be undermanned for long after acquiring Iverson and forward Ivan
McFarlin on Tuesday for guard Andre Miller, forward Joe Smith
and two 2007 first-round picks
With the expected arrival of Iverson dependent on weather,
Sacramento may be better off if the game isn't played at all.
The Kings have lost three straight contests - all at home - and
it won't get any easier on Friday.
On Thursday, Antawn Jamison scored 17 of his 33 points in the
decisive third quarter and added a season-high 13 rebounds as
Washington used a high-powered, balanced attack to post a
126-119 victory over the Kings. Kevin Martin scored a
career-high 40 points in the loss.
