England win by 21 runs after a dramatic collapse by Bangladesh after they lose 6 for 17 in 39 balls from the moment Shakib found midwicket. Jake Ball the hero with five wickets on ODI debut, he was running on empty at the end but kept going. They are the best figures by an England bowler on ODI debut. A word, too, for Adil Rashid who showed the value of the legspinner against the lower order. A big day as well for Ben Stokes with his maiden one-day century. What of Bangladesh? This will be tough to take. Imrul Kayes and Shakib Al Hasan had put them in complete control. It was a superb century from Kayes, who battled cramp, and Shakib played freely but fell the ball after he cramped up. The conditions were very tough. I'll bring you the presentation shortly
usama: "That's why people were saying Shakib is key here...." sean: "Bangladesh have only themselves to blame here, really batsmen going for glory shots when there's no need has cost them, But what a comeback by England and nice job by Buttler, remained cool when it was required. Good game nonetheless, well played to both teams."
David: "Surely mahoosive credit to Ball for that performance on debut." Of course. Immense display.
Dan: "I'm an England fan and even I'm heartbroken. Awful, awful collapse. Huge kudos to Jake Ball - Herculean effort to drag England kicking and screaming over the line."
Mashrafe Mortaza. "Should have been an easy game for us. 309 is always difficult but it was a nice wicket. Imrul batted really well. Dropped catches cost us, the score could have been 280. Stokes played really well. Could have been a different game. Imrul has been doing really well, back-to-back hundreds, hopefully he'll keep that going."
Jos Buttler. "Fantastic game. I'm stood there thinking I got the toss all wrong. Stokesy dragged everyone together and said one last push. They were cruising it, but new batters came in. Great to continue winning habit. Jake to stand up on debut was fantastic. Adil is very dangerous in the last 10 overs. He was valuable today. We have found a player in Ben, you'd never know he was on debut. Looked like a season pro. We could easily have dug a hole ourselves at 60 for 3. It was a fantastic partnership. What a fightback and we'll enjoy that one."
Man of the Match is Jake Ball "Incredible. I just thought I had to come in and hit it hard. No chance of me coming off, great chance for the five-for. There was a bit of variable bounce, hit the pitch hard, it skidded hard and change the pace. It's a bit hotter out here! Difficult conditions. We just wanted to keep going and keep fighting."
Right, that just about wraps things up for today. What a way to start the series. Andrew's report will be built up here over the next little while. England showed their bottle to turn that around, Bangladesh showed they retain the ability to collapse in style. For now, from Gnasher and Miller, it's goodbye, thanks for joining us and see you on Sunday.
