Hetmyer, Lewis help WI level series

West Indies U-19s 240 for 8 (Hetmyer 65, Allen 50*) beat Bangladesh U-19s 204 (Joyraz 78, Lewis 3-35) by 36 runs
Scorecard

Half-centuries from 16-year old Shimron Hetmyer and Fabian Allen guided West Indies Under-19s to a competitive total, which proved beyond the reach of Bangladesh-Under 19s, courtesy offspinner Ramaal Lewis' 3 for 35 as the hosts levelled the seven-match ODI series 3-3 in Guyana.

Left-arm seamer Abu Haider briefly forced West Indies to ponder their decision to bat first, dismissing their openers with only 23 on the board. However, Hetmyer remained firm, leading two successive half-century partnerships to lead West Indies to 150. But the game see-sawed again when he was dismissed for a patient 65, and legspinner Jubair Hossain, orchestrated a run-out and took two quick wickets to leave West Indies at 157 for 6. As a final twist to the innings, while every other batsman struggled to force the pace, Fabian Allen struck a 38-ball 50, and in the company of No. 10 Ramaal Lewis, put on 49 runs for the ninth wicket to take West Indies to 240 in their 50 overs.

Bangladesh could not muster substantial partnerships though Joyraz Sheikh tried his best to hold the innings together with a solid half-century. Steady wickets - four of which were off run-outs - meant Bangladesh's rebuilding process lasted nearly the entire innings. The worst phase was when they lost four wickets for 15 runs to slump to 165 for 8 as offspinner Lewis claimed two of those and effected a run-out as well. Another run-out and the wicket of Joyraz for 78 sealed both the match and Lewis' bid for the Man-of-the-Match award.
