11:39pm Right. That will be that from us for tonight. Hope you enjoyed our coverage just as much as we enjoyed bringing it to you. Until next time, this is me (Shashwat) signing off on behalf of Ranjith and everyone else at ESPNcricinfo. Goodbye and take care!
Faf du Plessis, Texas Super Kings captain: (What pleased him most) If you look at the power they have in the middle, the strongest hitters in the game - the composure we showed there. Bravo with his experience, and Mohsin, the way he bowled, just pleased with that. (On Mohsin) He has got some really good tricks. Wrist-spin is always a good factor. The consistency he has been showing has been excellent. I have the confidence in him now to throw him the ball in the 16th over against David. I like fielding, as does Miller. We always want the ball to come to us. (On Bravo) We have played a lot of cricket together. We think alike, our brains are very similarly wired. He identifies as a 29-year-old now (smiles), and he is moving nicely for someone of his age. (On the support) Once again, amazing. Thank you for coming out. Hopefully we can get the same following in the next leg.
Kieron Pollard, MI New York captain: (On the target) Yeah, of course. It was gettable on a track like this. We had a chat about how we should go about it but we fell short. We have not quite got it right with the bat so far. (On no one batting through) Every time we tried to put up a partnership, we lost wickets. We got off to a slow start again. Something for us to look at. (On David batting higher up) The temptation is always there. Had we gotten across the line, the conversation would have been different. We just did not get the job done. Everyone is putting their hands up to bat higher, maybe next game all of us will be opening (smiles).
Devon Conway, Player of the Match: (On the conditions) It was a slight challenge up front. The ball was not quite coming on in the powerplay. Faf and me decided to take a bit more time. (On the conversations with du Plessis) We chat out there, we have a sort of a blueprint - try to be as positive as possible. Assess the situation and communicate as quickly as possible.
Daniel Sams: (On the conditions) It was one of those wickets where if you have runs on the board, you could defend it. The way we started with the ball, we got in front of the game and we are able to hold on to it. (On the support) It has been awesome. My first game here and the guys have been saying how awesome it has been. Hopefully it is the same in Morrisville. (Sharing the stage with Bravo) You want to soak up everything he does. Have had a few good conversations with him, good being on the same team and not having to face him.
11:21pm Phew, that was an extraordinary bowling display by TSK, especially at the death. They only gave away 39 runs in the last five overs, with Bravo applying the initial squeeze and Sams finishing it off. That, though, was only possible because Mohsin broke open the game in the 14th over, picking up both Jahangir and Pollard. David and Rashid offered MINY a bit of hope but could not propel their team across the line.
MINY, when they look back at the chase, will view the first half as the phase where they let things drift. Taylor scratched around for 15, consuming 21 balls. Jahangir, who ended up as their top scorer, also took 38 balls for his 41. That meant they never really controlled the required run-rate and as wickets fell in the middle phase, their task only got progressively tougher.
Three legal deliveries and TSK will be home...
Boult in at 10. Sams goes around the wicket
Sams on a hat-trick, and this game might well have slipped away from MINY, with Rashid stranded at the non-striker's end
K Rabada c du Plessis b Sams 0 (1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00
Rabada is the new batter in. Over the wicket
TH David c du Plessis b Sams 24 (19b 1x4 1x6) SR: 126.31
21 needed off the final over. Sams will bowl it. David on strike. Who are you backing?
