Silk 71* carries Tasmania after Victoria fight back

Tasmania 203 and 3 for 127 (Silk 71*) lead Victoria 230 (Christian 93, Rainbird 4-25) by 100 runs
Scorecard

Opener Jordan Silk loomed as the key to Tasmania's hopes of building a match-winning lead against Victoria in Hobart, where Tasmania went to stumps on the second day 100 runs ahead with seven wickets in hand. Silk was unbeaten on 71 and Beau Webster had 6, as Tasmania moved to 3 for 127 having earlier conceded a 27-run first-innings advantage to Victoria.

Victoria had started the day on 3 for 54 and they seemed in trouble when they stumbled to 6 for 102, with Test batsman Peter Handscomb having fallen for 17, and the in-form Cameron White having been caught behind off Sam Rainbird for 11. Rainbird struck again when he had wicketkeeper Sam Harper lbw for 6, but Daniel Christian then led an impressive fightback from Victoria.

Christian struck 13 fours and two sixes during an innings of 93 from 110 balls, and put on 49 for the eighth wicket with John Hastings, who was caught at gully for 26. A 40-run last-wicket stand between Christian and Jon Holland pushed Victoria up to 230 before Christian fell short of a hundred, falling to Rainbird, who picked up 4 for 25.
