So, that brings the curtains down on a rare kind of game; Mumbai are disappointed despite winning. Bangalore are disappointed as well. The only people who are pleased are the neutral fans - we have seen a very good game here. Sid Monga is stamping out the bulletin at the speed at which he normally eats, so the final report should be up here pretty soon. On behalf of my colleagues, the Sids Vicious - Talya and Ravindran - and scorers Venkat Raghav and Binoy George, this is Nitin Sundar signing off. Cheers!
Tendulkar: "Yes, my heart is still pounding. The first half of our batting was great, but our bowlers came through well. The plan was for Malinga to bowl a tight (19th) over and then Zaheer would have had the cushion, but it did not pan out - this is Twenty20. Great stuff from Bravo." Ravi Shasri has it all wrong - he thinks Mumbai still have a chance. Talk about optimism. Even a mathematical miracle won't siffice though.
Kumble: "Too many runs in the last five overs. 15-20 runs. The way we bowled was really well.. Rahul and Virat took us to the last ball.. But it wasn't enough in a close game. We need to be positive and hold our catches against Lions." Well said, that.
Time for the presentation. Bravo is adjudged a deserving Man of the Match. "Hard luck, we are out of the tournament, but the aim was to win the game today and we did it. We had a very good day, and I must say well done to my team-mates." He is forlorn despite the win. Understandable.
Yogesh: "Actually what has put MI out in comparison to RCB & Lions is them not thrashing Guyana." True, that.
Paras, a fan of India, above all is disgusted. "Well done Mumbai! Within 1 stroke, you've eliminated 2 Indian sides.. excellent, keep promoting SA and Aussie sides by beating each other!"
Bangalore may be sad, Mumbai may be sadder, but Ben is surely the saddest. Or maybe he just analyses Fantasy Cricket closely. "That last ball was costly for anyone who had Kohli in the fantasy cricket. It not only dropped his RR below 200, it also deprived him of a 50 and probably MoM. So a total cost of 74 points."
What this means is that Bangalore and Lions will clash in a virtual quarter-final for the second spot from Group B in the semis. South Australia are of course already through with three wins.
Sadly for Mumbai, that is not good enough to take them through to the semi-final. Bangalore have done enough to ensure they are ahead in the NRR battle, and Mumbai finish a distant third with +0.221. Lions are at +0.716, and Bangalore despite the defeat are at +0.852. Sad from Mumbai's PoV, but they did not help their cause losing their first couple of games, especially that defeat against South Australia. Kohli seemed set to do the same thing to do them tonight - Malinga and Zaheer really crumbled under pressure, and Mumbai have managed to sneak a win here.. Just about.

Can Virat finish this off? 3 off 1! Is it a Super Over coming up?
7 off 2.
What an over! 13 needed off 6! Kohli has played a blinder - going after Malinga, of all people! What an over! Zaheer to bowl the last.
You could forget the game before the weekend but tonight, at least, you might take away two expressions from it - a scowl and a distraught face
