So India make a winning start to the tournament, but we know that West Indies are going to be the ones to watch. Abhishek Purohit's match report is being updated as i write. Thanks for all your comments and feedback, this is Devashish Fuloria signing off. Ciao ciao.
Mithali Raj: "It was a good way to start the tournament. The openers gave us the ideal start, specially Thirush Kamini and Poonam Raut played really well. The opening bowlers then gave us the ideal start too. We have worked really well and we have a very good combination of players for all situations. But sometimes you feel even 284 is not enough, specially when Dottin was going strong."
Thirush Kamini is the player of the match for her maiden hundred: "I am more happy to win the game. It was a good pitch to bat on. Me and Poonam, we play a lot together and that helps"
Chelsea: "Dottin should be given the WOM(woman of the match) award for sheer entertainment of scoring 39 runs in 16 balls and taking 3 wickets in 24 balls even if WI lose."
stogy: "A lot can be said about how much people love cricket by who they choose to watch playing (regardless of whether on TV or live). True cricket fans will appreciate good cricket irrespective of whether it is women or men playing and from whatever country they come from. Oh, and of course, you have to love the 5-day game the best!"

These last two players are doing a good job of frustrating India, it has been five overs since a wicket fell. Jhulan comes back
Thirush Kamini overcame a nervy start to become the first Indian to score a century in the Women's World Cup. Her 100 set up India's match-winning total against WI

India are playing the tenth Women's World Cup, this one in home conditions, but apart from the weather their captain Mithali Raj does not believe being hosts grants them any particular advantage
