Formalities aside, this is what these women would have been dreaming about. The team enters the stage and Stafanie Taylor gets the World T20 trophy. Let the celebrations begin.

One down, one to go. Even as the WI team celebrates, the men begin their warm-ups for their blockbuster game, not too far away. That is all from us for this final but switch tabs to live commentary for the men's game. See ya soon. Take care.

5.40pm Time for the presentation.

Firstly, the officials - the match referee and umpires are called to the stage for a token.

The Australia team then make their way to the stage. Not to forget, what an awesome campaign they have had, they have looked a thoroughly professional set-up (maybe the best), and as happens in sport, you lose. Well played though. A round of applause for Meg Lanning.

Meg Lanning: "Full credit to the West Indies they came out with the bat, did not quite get the result we wanted. We fell we are a little short, 160 would have been nice. Said that, if we bowled well we would have defended. Really exciting, tough road into the World Cup, proud of the effort that everyone has put in.

Stafanie Taylor is the Player of the Series, what a fantastic tournament the captain has had. "I've been waiting for this a long time and it has come at the right time. Didn't get the start we wanted but the batting has done it for us. Fantastic to know that the men were with us. Sammy sent me a text this morning that we were going to win."

Up come the West Indies players for their medals, beaming smiles on their faces.

Hayley Matthews is the Player of the Match: "Words cant explain what I feel now. Able to bring the trophy home is a great feeling. (Stafanie) was telling me to stay with her."

5.30pm Sensational run-chase, they made a terribly hard chase look so easy. It was nicely set up by their openers Stafanie Taylor and Hayley Matthews, their fantastic fifties have essentially done the job for WI. So the Women's team follow the U-19 team as winners of a global event. What joy. And the celebrations show how much it means to them too. Australia were quite poor in the field and with the ball, very poor lines and hittable balls, the openers latched onto the chances and took them to their maiden WT20 title. Rightful winners, and that is all they'll care about. West Indies have been ably led by superstar allrounder Stafanie Taylor, who was West Indies' leading run-scorer. Deandra Dottin finishes with nine wickets, joint highest. Both players' all-round abilities have been indispensable to this title-winning run.

"Great to knock off such a good score to win the tournament, always going to be a hard total," says Hayley Matthews. "Very good to have all three wins"

"Words can't explain what I'm feeling right now. Means so much for us and especially the people of the Caribbean, says Merissa Aguilleira. "Sammy sent us a voice note this morning."

"Good batting wicket, our line-up is very strong," Deandra Dottin.

Britney Cooper has no words to describe her emotion. "I wasn't worried about anything, I said to myself no way in hell will Australia come back and win this," she manages. "So amazing."

Shreya Tanzin: "matthews is a #champion, dottin is a #champion, anisa a #champion. everybody knows staph taylor's a #champion! Congrats #windies queens! "

Perry to Cooper, 2 runs, it is all over. Full on middle, and skewed to midwicket. What should have been an easy run out turns into an overthrow and the subsequent winning runs. West Indies have won their first Women's World T20. Lanning has her head in her hands. The celebrations have begun and so has the dancing. The West Indies players finally get around to shake the hands of the Australia team. But the dancing doesn't stop. The West Indies' men team joins the ladies in their celebrations. Darren Sammy and Carlos Brathwaite run around in joyous hugs with the women, with the tune of "Champion" in the background.

Perry to Cooper, no run, superb yorker on middle, unplayable. Cooper digs it out back to the bowler.

Fielders now come in closer.

Perry to Dottin, 1 run, there is that one to cover. Not very clever from Lanning. A length delivery outside off is pushed to cover for an easy run.

The Women's World T20 has come down to the last over. Perry to bowl. Perform or perish. The game firmly in Wi's hands. Six inside the circle, not many saving one though, which I firmly disagree with. Got to be in to stop the one.

Farrell to Dottin, 1 run, a very high full toss outside off is smashed down to long-on

How about a wicket here? A boundary would do for WI.

Nisar: "A bit early to predict but, it seems that West Indies are going to celebrate two world cup trophies today. "

Farrell to Cooper, 1 run, saved three did the bowler. Full on off and smashed back at the bowler who gets her feet behind it. One for the ricochet

Brit Cooper.

Farrell to Taylor, OUT, gone, straight to point. Too little, too late? Full outside off and Taylor squeezes a cut straight to the fielder. Distraught but she needn't be after that innings. Splendid performance.
