India Women 151 for 5 (Harmanpreet 77, Raj 41) beat Bangladesh Women 72 for 8 (Goswami 3-11, Shubhlakshmi 3-12) by 79 runs
Scorecard
Harmanpreet Kaur ensured India could still hope for a semi-final spot in the Women's World T20 as her career-best 77 led a rout of Bangladesh in Sylhet.
Going into a must-win encounter, India enjoyed the advantage of winning the toss and their decision to bat was supplemented by Kaur and Mithali Raj adding 107 for the first wicket. Their middle order withered away under pressure in the final overs but Kaur masked their failure and India racked up 95 runs in the latter half of their 20 overs. Her 59-ball innings came to a close in the 19th over, but she had already helped her side put up a competent total.
Bangladesh's chase wanted for momentum and Jhulan Goswami and Shubhlakshmi Sharma hampered them further with double-strikes. The host batting could muster only four scores in double-figures and were powerless to prevent a batting collapse that was put out of it's misery only because the 20 overs were done.
Despite the victory, India could not make the top two places in their group and are out of the tournament.
