Another record-breaking round of UEFA Champions League group stage action, as Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappe all found the net in PSG's comeback win over Maccabi Haifa. Erling Haaland shone with a late winner for Manchester City against former club Borussia Dortmund, while Chelsea's first game under Graham Potter ended in a disappointing draw. Juventus's terrible form continued as they were defeated by Benfica at home, while AC Milan and Napoli notched up comfortable wins. Carlo Ancelotti celebrated a milestone as Real Madrid scored late to defeat RB Leipzig.

Earlier, Liverpool needed Joel Matip's 89th minute winner to defeat Ajax, while Tottenham suffered late heartbreak as well. Bayern Munich ensured it was an unhappy return for Robert Lewandowski as they beat Barcelona, while Atletico Madrid suffered late in their loss to Bayer Leverkusen.

By The Numbers has the best stats from across the competition:

All of Messi's goals with PSG this season have come away from home. In fact, Messi has scored 2 goals in Israel this season and none in Paris (the Trophée des Champions was held in Tel Aviv).

62

Lionel Messi also went past Cristiano Ronaldo for the most UCL goals scored in the 1st half by any player, with this being his 62nd one.

30

Mbappe is now tied with Edinson Cavani at the top of PSG's all-time UCL scoring charts, with his 30th goal for the club in the competition.

13

Real Madrid extended their UCL unbeaten streak against German clubs to 13 games - the Spanish giants' longest ever such streak.

8

Real Madrid opened a season with 8 straight wins in all competitions for the first time since 1968-69, when they won their first eleven games. The club have become second half specialists, having outscored opponents 16-0 in the last 45 this season.

1

Jude Bellingham is the first Englishman to score a Champions League goal on the road against an English team for a non-English club. The 18-year-old also surpassed Wayne Rooney, Theo Walcott, Phil Foden and Jadon Sancho for the most UCL goals by an English teenager, notching up his fourth.

18

Messi and Kevin de Bruyne each grabbed an assist tonight - they are tied for the most assists in all of 2022 in all competitions, with 18, followed by Ousmane Dembele on 15

0

Bayern are unbeaten in their last 30 UCL group stage matches, having won 27 (!) of those games. Their only draws have come against Atletico Madrid and Ajax (twice).

0

Bayern remain the only side Barcelona have never defeated away from home in their history (at least three games).
