JDT defeated by Perak, miss opportunity to go top of MSL

Defending champions Johor Darul Ta'zim's (JDT) missed a chance to move to the top of the MSL standings when they blew a one goal lead to lose to Perak 2-1 on Friday night at the Perak Stadium in Ipoh.

Dato M. Karathu's side ended the Southern Tigers' six-match unbeaten streak and denied them a chance to go to the top of the league for the first time this season since winning their opening game against Pahang on Jan. 31.

Midfielder Junior Eldstal put JDT in front in the 24th minute. However, Perak bounced back in the second half with goals from midfielder Nurridzuan Abu Hassan and Brazil born striker Charles Chad in the 50th and 57th minutes.

After the loss, JDT remain in fourth spot with 15 points from nine matches. Bojan Hodak's side are behind PDRM FA -- who host Terengganu on Saturday night -- on goal difference.

Perak, who have a game in hand, moved up to fifth on 14 points from eight matches and are ahead of Terengganu -- who have also played one match less -- on goal difference.

Leaders Selangor have 17 points from eight matches and have a chance to stretch their lead on Saturday when they visit struggling Kelantan.
