Junior Eldstal ruled out of Malaysia FA Cup QF after training ground mishap

Junior Eldstal's Johor Darul Ta'zim comeback has hit a snag with the Malaysia international likely to miss Saturday night's FA Cup tie against PDRM FA after a training ground mishap.

The highly rated utility player ended up in hospital after an accidental collision with teammate Gary Steven Robbat as they both went for a 50-50 ball. Eldstal suffered a fractured nose and was knocked out cold for 30 minutes, forced to spend Monday night in a local hospital.

So, instead of starting Saturday night's quarterfinal second leg against the police side, Eldstal is likely to be sidelined once again. He's only just recovered from a serious hamstring injury that had kept him out of action since January.

"I've had no luck at all," Eldstal told ESPN FC. "I can't describe this feeling... something is just not right with my luck at the moment.

"Luckily, it's nothing serious, just heavy concussion and a fractured nose."

Still yet to play a competitive match this season, Eldstal is expected to be cleared to return to training next week but coach Mario Gomez will have to do without the 24-year-old at Larkin Stadium this weekend.

JDT hold a 1-0 lead from the first leg against their fellow Malaysia Super League (MSL) side.

Sabah-born Eldstal, who was brought up in England, has played as both a central defender and central midfielder for the reigning MSL champions.
