Wenger tried to sign Pogba, Real Madrid open to Bale-De Gea swap

Now that the international break is upon us, the rumour mill is beginning to heat up! As always, Transfer Talk has its finger on the pulse. Here's today's batch of rumours and gossip.

Wenger wanted Pogba

Arsene Wenger opened up recently about his attempts to bring fellow Frenchman Paul Pogba to Arsenal when the attacking midfielder was leaving Manchester United.

In a report in The Mirror, Wenger said he tried to get him, but "it was complicated." Pogba left United on a free transfer to move to Serie A club Juventus because he was not getting enough playing time.

"We were interested by Pogba when he was at Manchester [United]" said Wenger. "I was surprised to see Manchester let him go. We did not have the right to contact him."

Madrid willing to swap Bale for De Gea

Real Madrid are reportedly ready to let Gareth Bale swap the Bernabeu for Old Trafford at the end of the current campaign -- but only if Manchester United's keeper, David De Gea, is included in the deal.

The Manchester Evening News says that out of all the clubs interested in recruiting the Welshman, the Red Devils hold the trump card as Carlo Ancelotti and the rest of the Real hierarchy see De Gea as Iker Casillas' natural heir.

The reigning European champions are determined to recoup the majority of the record 85.3 million euro fee they paid Tottenham for Bale's services, and De Gea could prove to be sizeable makeweight in any deal.

Summer transfers lighting up EPL

The ESPN FC TV crew debate who is the most exciting player to watch in the Premier League. Can you guess which two big, summer transfers are top of the list?

PSG 'money problems'

Angel Di Maria recently revealed that his rumoured summer move to Paris Saint-Germain didn't happen because of money issues at the capital club.

The Argentine had plenty of suitors over the summer once it became clear that Real Madrid would let him go and PSG seemed like a nearly-done deal at several points during the window.

"PSG, I think they had a money problem and they couldn't buy players" said Di Maria. "This is the main reason I didn't go there."

J-League manager move

Japanese club Yokohama F. Marinos are rumoured to be making a move for Adelaide United boss Josep Gombau to replace recently-fired manager Yasuhiro Higuchi.

Yohohama president Akira Kaetsu is eager to implement a possession-based game and Gombau's considered to be one man who could get the job done with his history of managing in the Barcelona academy system.

The Spaniard is under contract with Adelaide until 2017, but he has an option to leave for an overseas offer.
